Ryerson Dragon Boat [Rye-D-Boat] Club holds a strong sense of communal value within the Rye-D-Boat group while having fun and staying fit when participating in dragon boat activities. This communal sense strongly represents Ryerson’s community, which is reflected by the variety of dedicated individuals from different ethnicities, cultures, and educational backgrounds whom are involved with Rye-D-Boat.
This season, Rye-D-Boat's 2010 roster has doubled from last year's roster count and stands at 44 members with a potential of two boat crews. Rye-D-Boat has high hopes this season and will get there with the lead assistance of a couple Ryerson alumni and experienced paddlers, Sandun Weerasinghe and Nick Fan. Also, with their assistance, a assistive coaching program and a more open team structure was introduced this season to improve the club's sustainability.
Currently in the off-season weather, we are diligently working on our paddling technique in the RAC pool, every Saturday evening between 5:30PM to 7:30PM until we hit the water in late April. We are also holding regular dry-training sessions during the weekdays to improve our overall strength and anyone is free to join in those dry-training sessions. The more the merrier we say!
If you are interested in joining in the fun at one of our training sessions, let us know !
